Legal events industry pioneer signs on with major partner

Well-loved provider of legal events, Chilli IQ, secures a future for their loyal community.

SYDNEY, 8 March 2021 – Homegrown events business, Chilli IQ, has secured a partnership with Thomson Reuters, enabling them to sustain growth in a challenging market.

Chilli IQ, a family-run legal events business which has risen in prominence since its inception in 2006, typically hosts six events annually for legal audiences in Australia and New Zealand, including its marquee event, the Managing Partners Forum. However, the onslaught of state and territory border closures in 2020 threatened their delivery model. They faced the difficult choice of either adopting a virtual event format or postponing their events until restrictions were eased.

“Ultimately, we decided not to convert our physical events into online-only experiences,” says George  Katrivesis, Marketing Director, Chilli IQ. “Our differentiator in the events industry, and the reason our community is so loyal, is not only the quality programs offered but also the platform to learn and network amongst peers – we appreciate our speakers, delegates and event partners who stick by us, year after year.  We opted to ride this out and seek out a strategic partner who believes in the Chilli IQ modus operandi. We are thrilled that we found that partnership with Thomson Reuters.”

Offering an established presence in the Asia-Pacific region, Thomson Reuters, a leading global technology and content provider, recognises the untapped potential of the Chill IQ events business.

“We at Thomson Reuters recognise the important role that Chilli IQ plays in the Australian legal sector,” says Jackie Rhodes, Managing Director, Thomson Reuters, Asia and Emerging Markets. “If Chilli IQ could not operate long-term in the new normal this would have been a devastating blow to the legal industry. This new partnership provides Chilli IQ with access to resources that will facilitate their ongoing events, enable them to stay in the industry and grow their brand throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Chilli IQ Advisory Board welcomes the decision by Chilli IQ and pledged to continue advising its leadership team on the thematic focus for each of their flagship programs. Their endorsement of the partnership can be captured in the words of Craig Osborne, Managing Partner, RMB Lawyers: “When George Katrivesis first told me about the partnership, the news set me at ease. I’m pleased that Chilli IQ will now have access to the know-how and reach that Thomson Reuters can bring to their business.”
