The CFMEU C&G div WA branch is “expecting a stoush” over a rostered days off (RDO) proposal being sent to employers as part of its upcoming building industry bargaining round in October. The WA branch is also seeking a 7% a year over three years pay deal and a 21% increase in allowances. But it expects the biggest stumbling block to be the RDOs, with the union seeking a Vic-style nine-day fortnight for WA building workers.
WA branch sec Kevin Reynolds told Workforce “at least two” major building companies had flagged their opposition to the nine-day fortnights. One of those, Canadian-owned Multiplex, had made it clear RDOs would be an issue in upcoming EBA talks, he said. Up to 300 building industry EBAs in the boom state are up for renegotiation this year.
