Maria Jockel’s new book, 457 Visa Law: Addressing Australia’s Skilled Labour Shortages, published by Thomson Reuters, was launched on 12 March 2009 at Russell Kennedy Lawyers in Melbourne. The crowd was addressed by special guest Justice Alan H Goldberg AO, who made reference to sections of the work relating to recruitment, retention of skilled workers and the potential use of the 457 visa laws to enhance the workforce pool.
This new work draws together the key requirements of the 457 Visa Program and foreshadows the upcoming changes in this dynamic, policy-driven field. The work focusses on the impact that the shortage of skilled labour will have in Australia in the long-term and provides assistance for businesses which adopt this commercial solution to their labour needs.
Maria Jockel is an established expert in immigration law. She is an Accredited Immigration Law Specialist who heads the Russell Kennedy Immigration Law Group.
