Fair Work Legislation 2013 published almost four months ago with a currency of 1 July. Its ‘future commencement’ notes, however, are the key to why it will remain current into the New Year.
When the 2013 volume was published, changes to several pieces of legislation were known to be commencing in the subsequent months, including those affecting the Fair Work Act from 1 January in relation to workplace bullying and right of entry.
In fact, there were over 100 such changes due to commence between 1 August 2013 and 12 March 2014 affecting 5 pieces of legislation in the book.
To allow practitioners to see what those changes would look like in context, we described them in future commencement notes using the language of the amending legislation. With these notes, customers can rely on this year’s volume into 2014.
Here are two examples of future commencement notes, extracted in relation to s 492 and the forthcoming s 492A of the Fair Work Act.
Included in the preliminary pages of Fair Work Legislation 2013 is a table of future commencements for easy reference, starting on xxxvii.
Future commencement notes are among the many practical features which help make Fair Work Legislation 2013 a reference of choice for practitioners and students. It’s included in our End of Year Sale with a 20% discount – but only until 13 December. See www.thomsonreuters.com.au for more details.
