Fair Work Rules now available

The Fair Work Rules 2009, which commence on 1 July 2009,  may be accessed from Fair Work Australia or you may download a copy.
The Rules are not yet registered and no official version is available through ComLaw.

Fair Work Act commences 1 July

The federal government’s Fair Work Act commenced as planned on 1 July after the Fair Work (Transitional and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 (TPCA Act)  and the Fair Work (State Referral and Consequential and Other Amendments) Act  2009 received assent on 25 June.

More regulations made for Fair Work laws

The Fair Work (State Referral and Consequential and Other Amendments) Regulations 2009 (SLI No 165 of 2009) and the Fair Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Regulations 2009 (SLI No 166 of 2009) were made on 29 June 2009 and commenced from 1 July 2009.
As at 1 July 2009 the Fair Work Rules have not been released.

Dates proclaimed for commencement of Fair Work provisions

On 29 June 2009, Governor-General Quentin Bryce proclaimed the following dates for commencemnt of various provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009:
1 July 2009
sections 41 to 43, 50 to 54, 58, 169 to 281A, 300 to 327, 332, 333, 334 to 572, 719 to 740 and 769 to 800
1 January 2010

Fair Work Regulations 2009 released

The Fair Work Regulations 2009 (Cth), which deal with the detail of the new Fair Work regime commencing 1 July 2009, were released on 19 June 2009.

The Regulations (except Parts 2-2 and 6-3) commence on 1 July 2009. Parts 2-2 and 6-3 commence on 1 January 2010.

Commencement of institutional framework provisions of Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)

On 18 May 2009, the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations issued a proclamation notice fixing 26 May 2009 as the commencement date for ss 3–40 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). Section 2(1) provides that ss 573–718 and Sch 1 of Act commence at the same time.
