Thomson Reuters was saddened to learn of the passing of Professor Bob Baxt AO on 11 March 2018.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Professor Baxt was renowned for his longstanding commitment and contribution to business law in Australia,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the Managing Director of Thomson Reuters Legal ANZ, Jackie Rhodes said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153He was one of our leading authors and will be greatly missed by all.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Bob Baxt was the founding Editor and General Editor of two Thomson Reuters journals: the Australian Business Law Review<\/em><\/a> (established in 1975) and the Company & Securities Law Journal <\/em><\/a>(since 1982). Bob was also a regular contributor to The Australian Law Journal <\/em><\/a>as the Section Editor for Corporations & Securities and Competition & Consumer Law, as well as a Consulting Editor for the\u00c2\u00a0Journal of Banking and Finance Law and Practice<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Thomson Reuters published The Baxt Report<\/em> with Bob and he provided regular commentary for our Corporations Legislation<\/em> annuals.<\/p>\n

Professor Baxt held various eminent posts throughout his career: as chairman of the Trade Practices Commission (a forerunner of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) between 1988\u00e2\u20ac\u201c1991; as a longstanding partner in leading law firms; chair of both the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and the Law Committee of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD); founder of the Banking and Financial Services Law Association; a former dean of Monash University Faculty of Law; and a Professor of Law at the University of Melbourne \u00e2\u20ac\u201c to name but a few of his roles.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bob Baxt was indefatigable in ensuring his Thomson Reuters journals maintained the highest standards of coverage and relevance,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Ms Rhodes said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153He continued to provide topical and incisive editorial commentary to the very last.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
