{"id":2417,"date":"2011-06-17T12:23:45","date_gmt":"2011-06-17T02:23:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/?p=2417"},"modified":"2011-06-17T12:23:45","modified_gmt":"2011-06-17T02:23:45","slug":"workplace-review-receives-a-mention-in-sentate-estimates-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/2011\/06\/17\/workplace-review-receives-a-mention-in-sentate-estimates-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Workplace Review receives a mention in Sentate Estimates Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday 30 May 2011, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/workplace-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Workplace Review<\/a><\/em> received a mention in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aph.gov.au\/senate\/committee\/eet_ctte\/estimates\/bud_1112\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Legislation Senate Estimates Committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Fisher, the Liberal Senator for South Australia, twice asked questions of Fair Work Australia relating to an interview of Justice Geoffrey Giudice (President of Fair Work Australia) published in the first issue of Workplace Review (\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Justice Geoffrey Giudice: An insider\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s look at Australia\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s new IR system\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (2010) 1 WR 16).<\/p>\n<p>The questions concerned the Labor policy of separating the workings of Fair Work Australia from political influences and the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153conflict of interest that has the Industrial Registrar serving two masters\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<sup>1<\/sup> and Giudice\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s self-perceived shift away from heavy involvement in hearings to greater administrative responsibility.<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>The interview was conducted by journalist Steven Andrew, a regular contributor to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/workplace-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Workplace Review<\/a> <\/em>and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomsonreuters.com.au\/catalogue\/productdetails.asp?id=874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Workforce<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Each issue of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/workplace-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Workplace Review<\/a> <\/em>features an interview and portrait of an influential practitioner, advocate, judge or academic working in industrial relations or related fields.
