This article looks at the changes to surrogacy laws and compares the State surrogacy regimes. It also looks at some of the recent cases which have been published in circumstances where couples are not able to access parentage transfer provisions in the State provisions. The complexities and inconsistencies in the State provisions will lead to confusion and people breaching State provisions. In some circumstances this will amount to a criminal offence. Recent decisions of the Family Court raise questions about the citizenship of children born through international surrogacy. Much more discussion and law reform is needed.

To purchase this article, complete the Individual Article Sale order form and email it to tlranz.journal.orders@thomsonreuters.com.

Sections

FAMILY DISPUTE RESOLUTION

How to work effectively with Family Relationship Centres – Linda Kochanski

INTERNATIONAL FAMILY LAW

Protection from forced and servile marriages – Alexandra Harland

BOOK REVIEW

Family Law Principles by Alexandra Harland, Donna Cooper, Zoe Rathus and Renata Alexander – Louise Greentree

RECENT CASES – Geoffrey Monahan FM (Ed), Dean Foley, Olivia Rundle

Re Rosie (Special Medical Procedure)

Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Resources v Ray

Drew v Vickery

Polonius v York

Zeller v Whitby

For the pdf version of the table of contents, click here:Â Fam L Rev Vol 1 Pt 4 Contents.

The October issue of Family Law Review promises an interesting mix of material on various aspects of family law.
