{"id":8171,"date":"2016-04-07T10:40:07","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T00:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/?p=8171"},"modified":"2024-07-10T07:19:19","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T07:19:19","slug":"welcome-to-the-new-general-editor-of-the-building-and-construction-law-journal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/2016\/04\/07\/welcome-to-the-new-general-editor-of-the-building-and-construction-law-journal\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to the new General Editor of the Building and Construction Law Journal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to announce that Michael Christie SC has been appointed as the new General Editor of the <em>Building and Construction Law Journal<\/em> (BCL), commencing with <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/1TKvPuy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Volume 32\u00c2\u00a0Part 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Christie was admitted to the Bar in 1991 and brings the expertise of many years acting extensively across construction industry disputes.\u00c2\u00a0He is a graduate of Sydney and Oxford universities, and is formerly a part-time Lecturer at Sydney University Law School.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Christie\u00c2\u00a0is a member of the Construction and Infrastructure Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, and is also a\u00c2\u00a0a member of numerous professional bodies including the Societies of Construction Law in Australia, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. He is also an associate member of the American Bar Association (including the Construction Litigation Committee of the Litigation Section, and the Forum on the Construction Industry). He has contributed to numerous law journals, including the\u00c2\u00a0<em>Modern Law Review<\/em>, the <em>Melbourne University Law Review,\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/the-australian-law-journal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Law Journal<\/a><\/em>, the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/australian-business-law-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Business Law Review<\/a><\/em>,\u00c2\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/workplace-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Workplace Review<\/a>,\u00c2\u00a0Australian Journal of Corporate Law\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>and, of course, our\u00c2\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/building-and-construction-law-journal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Building and Construction Law Journal<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mr Christie\u00c2\u00a0worked professionally with the distinguished former General Editor, the late John Dorter, over many years. More recently, he assisted Mr Dorter in relation to the journal and has been the acting editor for the BCL.
