She was appointed senior counsel in 2011 and, prior to her appointment as CDPP, was Senior Counsel Assisting in the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption and\u00c2\u00a0held many posts within the Office of the CDPP. Her areas of practice included criminal law, corporate fraud and disciplinary proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attorneygeneral.gov.au\/Mediareleases\/Pages\/2016\/SecondQuarter\/5-May-2016-Appointment-of-Commonwealth-Director-of-Public-Prosecutions.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0as the 8th Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions on 5 May 2016 and\u00c2\u00a0commenced her\u00c2\u00a0five year term\u00c2\u00a0on 16 May 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, one of the posts of the <em>Criminal Law Journal<\/em> Editorial Board has been held by the CDPP. Previously, the position was held by the Hon Justice Robert Bromwich before his appointment as a Judge of\u00c2\u00a0the Federal Court of Australia in February of this year.
