{"id":8998,"date":"2016-09-14T12:22:36","date_gmt":"2016-09-14T02:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/?p=8998"},"modified":"2024-07-10T07:52:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T07:52:49","slug":"mccallum-medal-competition-2016-showcasing-bright-young-ir-lawyers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/2016\/09\/14\/mccallum-medal-competition-2016-showcasing-bright-young-ir-lawyers\/","title":{"rendered":"McCallum Medal Competition 2016: showcasing bright, young IR lawyers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bullying, unfair dismissal, discrimination, health and safety, domestic violence \u00e2\u20ac\u201c these issues, in\u00c2\u00a0their intersection with workplace relations\/law, are some of the topics that entrants in the annual McCallum Medal public speaking competition may choose to present on this year.<\/p>\n<p>Named in honour of Professor Ron McCallum AO, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney, and a leading academic expert in labour law and human rights, the McCallum Medal Competition is open to young lawyers and students with an interest in workplace and safety law and industrial relations. It is organised by the NSW Young Lawyers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Workplace and Safety Law Committee.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the five finalists will make their presentations at a function hosted by Professor McCallum at the offices of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lawsociety.com.au\/cs\/groups\/public\/documents\/internetyounglawyers\/1194643.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seyfarth Shaw in Sydney, on Thursday, 27 October 2016<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As in previous years, Thomson Reuters, as publisher of a wide range of employment law publications, including <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.thomsonreuters.com.au\/journals\/category\/journals\/workplace-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Workplace Review<\/em><\/a>, is one of the sponsors of the competition.
