Thomson Reuters is pleased to announce the appointment of Lawrie Groom to the Editorial Board of the Local Government Law Journal. Lawrie will be providing commentary on notable cases from the Victorian jurisdiction.

Lawrie Groom MA (Melb), has been an author for Thomson Reuters since 1991. He writes chapters for the Local Government Service Victoria and each month provides commentary on developments in local government and annotations on the Local Government Act 1989 (Vic).

He is the joint author of three books on local government law, including two published by The Law Book Company.

Lawrie, an independent adviser on public policy, has advised governments and others on policy matters, worked on inquiries conducted by committees of the Parliament of Victoria and was a Sessional Member of Planning Panels Victoria where he chaired public hearings and provided advice to planning authorities and the Minister for Planning on property development proposals, strategic planning and policy.

Many years ago, Lawrie was Deputy Town Clerk of the former City of Preston, a suburb of Melbourne.
